Repair, Refurb and Recycling

Repair, Refurb and Recycling

We have a Repair and Refurb Scheme!

Here at Beeline, we’re all about getting out and enjoying our wonderful planet. And we believe that it’s our responsibility to look after it too.

After a year-long process that has involved everything from sourcing the very best refurbishment provider we could find (that’s Triage!) to designing the smallest recyclable packaging to lower the carbon footprint of sending devices all over the world, we were very excited to launch our Refurbishment and Paid Repair Scheme in April 2022!

This scheme was launched with our Moto device and has recently been extended to Velo 2 devices too.

What does it mean?

As before, all repairs (in warranty or out) will need to start the returns loop by getting in contact with  for instructions for the repair. But, after that, we have an exciting new process.

If your device breaks within its warranty period, we will still replace it with a brand new unit! But, with help from our customer service team, you will send your broken device to Triage, starting its journey to becoming a refurbished device for someone else.

If your device breaks outside of its warranty period, you will be able to pay for it to be repaired and you’ll send it back to us to start its repair journey. To ensure that you are back out Beelining as quickly as possible, you’ll immediately be sent a previously repaired device from our stock. It’s a great, quick loop!

A paid repair will cost:

£60 for a Beeline Moto - Black Plastic

£70 for a Beeline Moto - Metal (Silver or Gunmetal Grey)

£40 for a Beeline Velo 2

All repaired devices will come with a twelve month warranty but have been repaired to a very high standard, and we expect them to be in fantastic working order for years to come!

Every now and then, we also expect to have a small surplus of refurbished devices and will give you the chance to buy these at a special discounted price:

£120 for a Beeline Moto - Black Plastic*

£135 for a Beeline Moto - Metal (Silver or Gunmetal Grey)*

£40 for a Beeline Velo - Charcoal Grey, Hot Coal Red, Petrol Blue, Yellow

Refurbished Moto devices come with 2 x Beeline standard mounts (Universal elastic strap and Sticky pad) and a charger and also have a year long warranty. Refurbished Velo devices come with a strap and charging cable and also have a year long warranty.

How did we get here?

If you’re a Beeliner, you’ll know that we make our devices using the very best available materials and components to ensure that their look, feel and functionality is excellent. And if you have something that is truly valuable? You look after it!

Until now, we have been simply recycling (or encouraging our customers to recycle) our old or broken devices. But the famous environmental slogan, “reduce, reuse, recycle” is in that order on purpose. Recycling is just the “best last option”; better than sending something to landfill. And we all know that not all of what we think is being recycled is actually being recycled. Reusing is a far better option!

So, back at the beginning of 2021, we started looking at options for refurbishment providers. Who could we trust to do the very best repairs for our devices? After a very long search (it took us about six months!) we finally settled on Triage Services Ltd.

For decades, Triage have been repairing all sorts of things; from ATMs to train ticket machines to Post Office labellers to government laptops. And they do it all with the environment in mind: most of what can’t be repaired gets stripped, sorted and sent off to other companies who know how to make brilliant things out of it.

We finally had a chance to visit them in October 2021 to see their fantastic warehouse and repair processes for ourselves!

We're always improving

Repairing Moto devices is just the beginning. Once we have the scheme rolling, we’ll start to prepare to launch a similar scheme for our upcoming Velo 2 device.

We are also committed to making the best decisions for the environment the whole way along our supply chain. Did you know that 80 percent of a product’s environmental impact is determined at the design stage? (1) Our designers design very much with durability in mind but with a realistic approach to the fact that some devices will, unfortunately, break. Repairability and recyclability is the name of the game.

It is estimated that there are more technology-critical materials in household drawers than there are in all of Europe’s mines. (2) And we will do our very best to make sure that Beeline devices don’t contribute to that! We are ready to repair or recycle your device. Let’s look after the planet together.

Recycling

If your device is outside of its warranty and you don't want a paid repair, or you just want to upgrade, you can recycle your old device with us.

Why recycle?

Unwanted electrical equipment is the UKs fastest growing type of waste. Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle, electrical equipment will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination – harming wildlife and also human health.

We can help

We are pleased to offer our customers the chance to recycle their old Beeline when purchasing a new one from us. All you need to do is to send it to us:

Beeline RECYCLING

211 The Print Rooms

164-180 Union Street

London SE1 0LH

and state in the reason for returning your Beeline that it is for recycling.

To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with a crossed‐out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with the crossed out wheeled bin symbol) in your bin.

What is WEEE?

The Waste Electrical or Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires countries to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of these items. In the UK, distributors (including retailers) must provide a system which allows all customers buying new electrical equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge. Those establishing their own take‐back scheme must, as a minimum, offer all customers buying new electrical equipment free take back of their old electricals on a like‐for‐like basis.
